I have known I was a lesbian since I was 18 years old. I am now turning 21. I just recently told my family and friends this month. I was afraid to tell them because my dad's side of the family are very racist and I thought that they would hate me. But when I told my dad he told me he already knew. I asked him how he knew and he told me that he could just tell from my behavior growing up. I asked him to explain and he told me that when my sister would check out guys I wouldn't look at them I would look at the women the guys were with.
I asked him if he was mad at me and he told me no and that he still loves me.
I was afraid to tell my mom because she has always wanted me to get married and have kids. I can still do that as a lesbian. When I told her she wasn't surprised. She told me that when I was little she would always tell my grandmother that when I grew up I was going to be a lesbian.I asked her how she knew and she told me that she just had a feeling. Now I have a girlfriend and my mom includes her as her daughter.
When I told the rest of my family they told me they have known for a long time. I just laughed and thanked them for not hating me.
